Electro-Cleaner Cleans, Passivates Welded Steel

Walter Surface Technologies’ Surfox is an electro-cleaning alternative to traditional methods using pickling paste or grinding machines to clean heat discoloration from welded stainless steel. In a typical application, a worker fills the cleaning unit with an electrolyte cleaning solution, then the unit pumps the solution through an application pad which simultaneously cleans and passivates the part. After the electro-cleaning process, the worker applies a neutralizing fluid to remove acid deposits.

The system features the Surfox H standard electrolyte cleaning solution and the higher-pH Surfox T solution for heavy-duty jobs, both which clean up as much as 3 to 6 fpm. It also includes application pads, a passivation tester, a stainless steel grade ID tester and kits for marking stainless steel surfaces.
